United Methodist Women

"United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church."

The United Methodist Women meet at the church as a unit the first Tuesday of each month, September through June. A business meeting is followed by a program, refreshments and social time. The unit is divided into four circles that meet monthly:

Dorcas Circle meets the third Monday of each month at Copeland Oaks with lunch at 12:30 p.m. and meeting at 1:00 p.m.

M & M Circle meets in members' homes on the third Monday of each month at 7:0 p.m.

May Smyth Circle meets in members' homes on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.

Susie Buckel Circle meets at the church on the third Tuesday of each mothat 7:30 p.m.

Purpose

The group supports global ministries through the national United Methodist Women and a number of local outreach projects including: Church Women United, Community Dinners at Christ UMC, Stuckey Family Interfaith Child Development Center, and the Alliance Area Domestic Violence Shelter.

Fundraisers include twice-a-year basement sales held in May and October and an annual Baked Potato and Salad luncheon in March.

Church Women United meet January through June, September through December on the first Friday of the month at 1 p.m. In March is the World Day of Prayer with a noontime program. In May is the Friendship Luncheon at noon. Meetings are held in area churches.
