Stuckey Family Interfaith Child Development Center Requesting Items for Fundraiser Auction

The Stuckey Family Interfaith Child Development Center is in need of items to auction at its annual fundraising event September 24 at the Alliance Country Club. The event will take place from 7 to 11 p.m.  The purpose of the auction is to raise funds to provide scholarships for students who “sometimes fall through the funding cracks” as they don’t qualify for county funding and can’t pay privately for tuition.

Laurie Porter, director, has requested that you contact her directly if you can provide unique items or certificates for unique services that you believe will raise money for the center. Her phone number is 330  821-1377 or email her at interfaith10@att.net.

Stuckey Family Interfaith Child Development Center has been a mission of Christ United Methodist Church for 43 years. It is a twelve-month program for children ages 2-6 who are toilet trained. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 5:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

As Laurie describes the center: “It is a professional development school serving families in the surrounding counties by offering a sliding fee scale and access to subsidized childcare.  It exists to provide a developmentally appropriate education to preschoolers in a Christian atmosphere, to support and educate families of children we serve, and to embrace families of all religious and ethnic origins.”

Currently she and her staff serve 50 children. The Center is a United Way agency. It has earned a three-star Step Up To Quality rating—one of two child development centers in Stark County to do so. This is a level of quality achieved by less than 15 percent of all star rated programs.  This rating means it exceeds Ohio’s childcare licensing standards.

The center is licensed to operate legally through the State of Ohio's Department of Job and Family Services and is accredited through the NAEYC (National Association for the Education of Young Children). It does not discriminate in the enrollment of children on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin.

Please contact Laurie with your items to help defray the cost of tuition for families who can’t afford for their children to attend but want to give their children the support they need to succeed.
